Dr. LaBarbera is a Professor of pharmaceutical sciences in the Skaggs School of Pharmacy, University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. He is the founding Director of a new state-of-the-art Center for Drug Discovery. His research is focused on cancer drug discovery and development utilizing a multidisciplinary approach, including HTS/HCS, in vitro and in vivo lead drug mechanism of action determination and pharmacology; and drug design and medicinal chemistry. His laboratory has made seminal contributions in the area of 3D HTS/HCS cancer drug discovery. His research program has been continually funded by the NIH, the DoD, the State of Colorado, and other significant foundations grants.
