Dr. Per Hoffmann has been involved in the field of genomics since 2005, the time when the first micro-arrays for GWAS became available. Since then, his work has contributed to the identification of new genes and loci in a variety of diseases and traits, among them dyslexia, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, cleft lip / cleft palate, myeloma and psoriasis. The focus of his current work is the application and adaption of genomic technologies for the investigation of the genetic basis underlying multifactorial diseases and traits. This includes micro-arrays, next- and third-generation sequencing as well as laboratory automation, IT-infrastructure, process management and bioinformatics.
Dr. Hoffmann’s authorship spans over 250 papers in international peer-reviewed journals. He is currently the Technical Head at the Institute of Human Genetics at the University Hospital Bonn and CCO/Co-Founder of LAMPseq Diagnostics GmbH. His postgraduate career has also included head of operation and head of laboratory positions with Life&Brain GmbH and the University of Basel, and guest scientist roles with the Institute of Neuroscience and Medicine and the University of Basel.
