Thomas "TC" Chung is Dir of Translational Programs Outreach at Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute and was formerly Assoc Dir of the Office of Translation to Practice at the Mayo Clinic. Dr. Chung is responsible for strategic alliances & translational research development. He has over 25 years from bench R&D to executive leadership in several pharma companies exiting as biotech Chief Scientific Officer. He has built world-class facilities and led R&D teams that developed, acquired and integrated novel technologies in imaging, signal generation and detection, liquid handling, miniaturization, IT, high-throughput screening, biochemical and cell-based assay development, laboratory automation and robotics, compound management, Lead optimization, ADME/Tox profiling and analytical chemistry (HPLC/MS). He has managed discovery programs in cardiovascular, CNS, infectious, inflammatory and cancer diseases, leveraging his expertise in biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology. He has over 60 papers, 8 book chapters, 54 MLP probe reports, 4 issued & 9 patent applications. He was 2001 President, Society for Biomolecular Screening and serves as a consultant to several startups.
