Whether installing a new automated liquid handler (ALH) for the first time or several ALHs over time, laboratories are often faced with what the next steps are once the system is successfully installed. A standardized approach is the most efficient and scientifically meaningful way to perform qualifications and routine testing across various ALH platforms and across different sites. This tutorial will cover two facets of standardization. The first will consider the impact of aligning ALH testing to ISO (International Organization for Standardization) standards, while the second will cover the benefits of using a standardized methodology for integrating ALHs into a laboratory’s work flow.
