Altis Biosystems

Altis Biosystems is a Contract Research Organization, which has developed a stem cell technology, recreating both the small or large human intestinal epithelium for compound screening and microbiome research. Our primary stem cells proliferate into all of the normal differentiated cells that you would expect to see in the intestinal epithelium in both a planar or crypt/villus format. The cells form a contiguous impermeable monolayer. Altis’s product is high throughput, scalable, reproducible, and uses normal adult human tissue. It can be used to perform nearly any type of cell-based assay and is compatible with standard automated equipment. 
The form factor for our product is an SBS format multiwell plate with transwell inserts, and the platform can be used in 12 or 96-well plate formats. The stem cells are derived from transplant-grade healthy adult human donor organs. Altis has a biobank with multiple donors and both the small intestine and colon.                                                            
Altis provides a variety of services for customers, including toxicology, permeability, ELISA, transport, gene expression, and more. In addition to providing services utilizing its platform, Altis is able to ship its platform to customers as well.
Our goal is to reduce the time and cost of drug development and reduce the need for animal testing.
