The dream of stepping into virtual worlds with a seamless transition from the physical world is quickly becoming a reality. Though VR hardware and software has advanced at a staggering pace, progress improving wiring and form factor has not kept up. Engineering lightweight and comfortable XR equipment is key to enabling longer wear times and better overall usability and immersion. Fluid-phase circuits with metal gel conductors offer a radically thin, stretchable and comfortable means of implementing wiring busses and complex sensing equipment into garments and accessories. This presentation will explore how metal gel has proven to be an effective and robust solution for connectivity and sensing in wearables and how it can enhance virtual experiences.
