Middle College - Fremont Union High School District, California, United States
Oindree Chatterjee attends Fremont High School in Sunnyvale, CA. As a member of the middle college program, she takes all her classes at a local community college to pursue her aspirations in the engineering and technology fields. Oindree participated in the SEMI High Tech U program in 2019 where she visited Micron, KLA, and SJSU. The program blossomed her interest to partake in STEM activities at her high school and pursue a career in the tech and electronics industries.
When the pandemic hit, she came back to The SEMI Foundation with a mission to inspire other students to gain interest in the microelectronics industry. Oindree eventually created The STEM Corner podcast to provide curious individuals & minorities exposure to the opportunities that lay in the STEM field by interviewing enthusiastic guest speakers working in tech industries.
Oindree’s podcast not only inspired her listeners but also motivated her to use the concept of DEI to lead her robotics team’s outreach, being the Team Captain. As a huge supporter of gender equality, Oindree mentors the Girls Who Code group at her school, serving as the President, providing her members with hands-on lessons and inviting guest speakers to her school. She even brought Micro:Bits from SEMI to her club, to make programming more engaging for girls at her school!
Now serving as the Community Impact Lead in her robotics organization, Oindree strives to provide low-income students in her area with access to STEM opportunities before they reach high school. Partnered with SEMI, she is developing a team in her robotics club that will develop curriculums that can be incorporated into her local elementary and middle schools to allow these low-income students to experience the excitement automation and technology brings.
