Historically ATE test engineering has been focused on solving electrical measurement tasks. However, due to ever-shrinking nodes and increasing transistor counts in state-of-the-art semiconductors, associated measurement tasks have begun to grow into very large software engineering projects, created by large, development teams and include global collaboration. Common best practice for collaboration and source code management often fail to deliver high-quality test programs at a quick enough pace in that environment. In this article, we€™ll analyze various means of implementing a DevOps approach, including a combination of best practices, tools, processes and automation, that increases an organizations ability to deliver large test applications with high-quality and pace.
