Director of Chip Realization Mekonos, CA, United States
Existing cell therapies are prohibitively expensive due to old approaches for discovery, development, and manufacturing like viral vectors and electroporation. Replacing those methods with nanoneedles offers a low impact way to transfect a cell and engineer its properties while preserving cell viability. Using silicon and MEMS technologies paired with microfluidics, dielectrophoresis, and surface chemistry, we can isolate cells paired individually with needles for precise control of payload delivery into the cell. We can arrange these components on chip uniquely to address the discovery, development, and manufacturing of edited cells with the prospect of making therapeutics affordable and customizable for all. I will discuss the technology Mekonos is building and our path to scaling our technology.
