Prof. Smilg is Chair of the Breast Imaging Society of South Africa and President Elect for Council of the Breast Interest Group of Southern Africa.
Professor Smilg is an Honorary Researcher in the Centre for the Exploration of the Deep Human Journey and received the 2018 Research Excellence award from her university. She has delivered lectures in South Africa, Egypt, USA and China.
She has served on academic and clinical committees for Hospital, University and Government.
