With a straightforward approach for practical-minded breast imagers, these presentations will cover two of the key challenges of day-to-day practice. The first half of the session will cover the nuts and bolts of breast ultrasound including anatomy, technique, and common challenging scenarios. The second half of the session will start where BIRADS leaves off and offer practical guidance on evaluating calcifications using entirely new morphologic features. There may be tell-tale signs in features we never knew to look for.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, the participant will be able to recognize the zonal anatomy of the breast, conduct and optimize a breast ultrasound, and develop a systematic approach to challenging case scenarios.
Upon completion, the participant will be able to recognize newly defined shapes of breast calcifications - not included in BIRADS - and will understand the likely diagnosis and level of suspicion for each.
Upon completion, the participant will be able to recognize two distinctly different appearances of coarse heterogeneous calcifications and recognize which one is very likely malignant and which isn't.
