Case Series/Study
Four cases met the criteria:
Case 1: 54-year-old male suffered a grade IIIA open pilon fracture. 8x3cm UC placed with adjunctive VAC for 3 days and wound healed by 4 months.
Case 2: 22-year-old male suffered a left Grade IIIB open olecranon fracture. 4x3cm UC placed and would healed within 8 weeks. Case 3: 67-year-old diabetic male suffered hallux wound with exposed bone and gangrene. At 4 and 8 days, 8x3cm UC placed and wound closed by 6 months. Case 4: 25-year-old male suffered Grade IIIB open tibia fracture and 8x3cm UC applied. Complete wound closure within 3 months.
Discussion: Adjunctive use of AMUC in the management of post-traumatic, complex wounds was able to promote complete wound closure, prevent infection, and facilitate functional and aesthetic recovery.
