Health Economics
We randomized 40 patients 20 in each group each with single leg wraps.
The 4-layer bandage system took on average 2:18 minutes.
The 2-layer system took an average of 1:35 minutes
This related to an average of 1:23 minutes difference in time.
The average time to apply the 4-layer bandage, over 20 patients was an average of 2:18 minutes. The total time to apply the 2-layer bandage, over 20 patients was on average 1:35 minutes. The average difference between the two system 1:23 minutes. Taken over a 30-day period, where we do on average of 942 limbs, the total time saved using the 2-layer bandage would have been 21.72 hours of savings in each month. This has health economic consequences as nursing time is of value and the time that is saved in applying compression can be used more on other tasks.
