Introduction: Multiple pedal schwannoma in a diabetic patient that requires surgical intervention.
Methods: Upon discovery through advance imaging and interventional radiology. This diabetic patient was referred to plastics and reconstructive surgeon for tumor excision and advanced woundcare.
Results: Specimen was sent to pathology of two soft tissue tumors that were excised. The results were positive as a schwannoma. Schwannomas are relatively rare tumors in the foot.
Discussion: It is not uncommon to encounter soft tissue mass during a physical exam. It is imperative that a thorough history and physical is carried out. Also as a Podiatrist our history taking should not be limited to the lower extremity. It is also important to recruit the expertise of other specialties such as interventional radiology, dermatology and surgery. A thorough work up will make a difference between life threatening pathologies and benign cases.
