There is now a pH-based way of wound cleansing. Studies have demonstrated that a wound pH of 3.5 to 5.5 is desirable for wound healing. It is important for wound care clinicians to understand “the what, the why, and the how” of available therapies and the biochemistry, potential for cellular toxicity, and wound pathophysiology are important factors that should be considered in the selection of any wound cleansing agent. Led by an interdisciplinary panel, this session will provide, evidence and guideline-based information that may assist in selecting the most appropriate therapeutic intervention.
