Energy modalities, such as electrical stimulation and ultraviolet light have been used for decades, due to these technologies’ abilities to support recovery by stimulating a patient’s natural wound-healing processes. Additionally, studies have shown that robust activity can improve mental health, reduce the risk of infection, and accelerate wound healing. This session will examine the spectrum of physical therapy modalities in wound healing from exercise to current and emerging biophysical modalities.

Describe the role of exercise and physical modalities in the prevention and management of wound complications
Select the proper electrotherapy equipment and parameters to promote wound healing
Demonstrate a general understanding of the evidence related to current and emerging biophysical technologies
