Nutrition is a vital yet often overlooked aspect of wound care. We will address the role that nutrition plays in patient outcome, how malnutrition complicates healing, and how wound care providers can best utilize vitamins and minerals for their restorative properties.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participants will be able to demonstrate understanding of the role that nutrition plays in the prevention of PIs or in the promoting the healing of PIs.
Upon completion, participants will be able to demonstrate understanding of various nutrition related interventions (vitamins, minerals, and oral nutrition/wound healing supplements) that can be used in the prevention of PIs or in promoting the healing of PIs.
Upon completion, participants will be able to demonstrate understanding of how various patient populations with PIs are at risk-for PIs may be managed nutritionally for optimization of wound healing.
