Dr. Susan Cohn is the Director of Clinical Sciences and Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Chicago. She has devoted her career to caring for children with neuroblastoma and conducting clinical and translational research focused on understanding the biologic underpinnings of high-risk neuroblastoma to identify new, more effective treatments. She has led efforts to develop risk classification algorithms in the International Neuroblastoma Risk Group (INRG) Task Force and the Children’s Oncology Group (COG). Dr. Cohn has also held leadership positions in Children’s Oncology Group (COG), and served as the first Chair for Neuroblastoma Disease Committee when COG was established in 2000. She is currently working closely with colleagues at the University of Chicago to investigate the epigenomic landscape of neuroblastoma and the biological implications of the m6A epitranscriptome. In collaboration with Dr. Chuan He, Professor of Chemistry at the University of Chicago, she is testing the therapeutic potential of compounds that target epigenetic dysregulation in neuroblastoma. Dr. Cohn also serves as the Director for Faculty Development in the University of Chicago’s Comprehensive Cancer Center, and she was appointed the Inaugural Director of Faculty Scholars Program in the Department of Pediatrics. She received the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Pediatric Oncology Award in 2016, the Samuel Spector Award for Mentorship, Department of Pediatrics, University of Chicago in 2018, and the
AACR-Joseph H. Burchenal Memorial Award for Outstanding Achievement in Clinical Cancer
Research in 2019.
