Frank has been involved with early stage companies since 2010 in a variety of full
time, consulting, and advisory roles. Originally from Houston, Frank spent 10 years
in the energy industry, focused on trading & commodity risk management. He was
integral to the due diligence, data migration, and transition during the sale of Reliant Energy to
NRG in 2009. In 2010, He helped launch MP2 Energy, achieving over $100 million in revenue
in the first year of operation. In 2013, He was chief risk officer of Tri-Eagle Energy, managing a
120-million-dollar portfolio of commercial and residential customers in 10 states.
In 2014, Frank moved to Orange County. He received an executive MBA from UCLA Anderson
and launched REELY, a video platform that automatically generates highlights in real-time for
sports and esports using computer vision and AI. The company has a team of thirteen spread
across Los Angeles, Boston, South Carolina, and Poland. In November of 2019, REELY
processed 2,500 hours of sports content without human intervention. The company was
named one of the top AI startups in sports by Sports Business Journal and featured at
TechCrunch Disrupt.
In 2020, Frank launched Halftone Ventures, an early-stage investment firm focused on clean
energy and energy transition. The firm’s goal is to bridge the gap between innovation
ecosystems and traditional energy perspectives. He is an expert-in-residence at BRITE
Energy Innovators, a mentor with the Cleantech Open, and a connector for NREL’s
American-Made Challenges.
