Wednesday, September 21, 2022
1:00 PM – 1:10 PM
Location: ACC Arena Foyer/Hall A
More and more energy storage projects are being sited in urban settings, in proximity to homes and residential neighborhoods where potential noise impacts are possible. Noise is becoming a main issue in the permitting approval process and there isn’t much visibility or broad knowledge on the topic. Since noise from energy storage projects gains a lot of attention from local communities, it is important to not overlook the potential impact during early project development.
The poster will be an overview of acoustics fundamentals, common energy storage equipment sound sources, sound modeling and how it can be used to benefit the project, sound mitigation design and expectations during permitting hearings.
The target audience for this topic are energy storage developers or other stakeholders that are involved in siting energy storage projects in urban settings. There will be beneficial and actionable information gained from the topic to increase awareness and outline steps to proactively address the sound impact on surrounding urban areas during project development.
