This presentation will be an overview on an emerging electricity distribution technology called Fault Managed Power or FMP, also known as Class 4 in the 2023 National Electrical Code. Class 4 systems transmit electricity between a transmitter to a receiver using cables more like the well-known communications cables used for PoE but at power levels and distances well beyond that of PoE. FMP allows higher voltages and power levels to be safely distributed without the use of conduit or other expensive wire isolation.
