The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) will share an early draft of the Interconnection Innovation e-Xchange (i2X) 5-Year Strategic Roadmap outline, topics, and scope for feedback and comments. Share your experience and help shape a practical roadmap for improving interconnection procedures nationwide.
i2X is a new program led by DOE's Solar Energy Technologies Office and Wind Energy Technologies Office with the support of the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, National Renewable Energy Laboratory, and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. The program aims to develop innovative solutions to enable faster, simpler, and fairer interconnection of solar energy, wind energy, and energy storage, while enhancing the reliability and resilience of our nation's distribution and transmission grid networks.
i2X will publish a 5-Year Strategic Roadmap within the next 12 months by incorporating input, comments, and insights from stakeholders across the U.S. electricity ecosystem to systematically improve interconnection processes, reduce interconnection timelines and costs, and maintain grid reliability to meet local, state, regional, and federal decarbonization goals.
