Solar permitting remains a hidden stumbling block when it comes to the adoption of solar in the U.S. Department of Energy along with industry codes and standards bodies and local government, have come together to create an automated solar permit plan review tool to eliminate the need for a person to spend their time and energy on a system that can be checked programmatically for compliance. This presentation by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) will include an overview of SolarAPP+'s adoption and impact thus far, an update on how the program is improving permitting processes in local jurisdictions, and how it will provide useful data on its implementation.
