A recent study from the Department of Energy showed the U.S. solar industry workforce will need to triple by 2035 to meet deployment goals. While progress towards building a diverse workforce has been made in recent years, more can be done to reach untapped talent pools to support future growth apprenticeship programs provide participants with paid training through in-classroom instruction and structured on-the-job training with an experienced mentor. In addition, those designed to be inclusive of people with disabilities, and underrepresented groups more broadly, can be a low-cost way to help companies of all sizes diversify their workforce, boost productivity, reduce turnover and absenteeism, enhance their brand images, and more. This session will cover he Partnership on Inclusive Apprenticeship (PIA), an initiative funded by the U.S. Department of Labor's Office of Disability Employment Policy, and how it can support solar employers to advance and enhance inclusive apprenticeship programs.
