As the solar industry continues to evolve, we are seeing the rapid pace of module wattage scaling the charts, and the sophistication of their capabilities grow. As developers and EPC’s, we have adapted our practices to ensure the customer's energy needs are being met, and typically that means their array is offsetting enough to prove added value. The versatility of bifacial modules can be used in a number of different applications like ballasted systems, fixed tilt ground mounts, and single-axis trackers. Bifacial solar cells can increase production by around 10-15% just from the rear side of the module. When the modules are installed over a highly reflective surface like light-colored stone, the extra production doubles to close to 30%. Due to the glass covering both sides of these modules they tend to be much stronger and durable than a conventional module. The cost gap between bifacial and conventional modules continues to drop making them an even more attractive option. During this presentation, attendees will walk away with principles and strategies of best practices when designing a system with bifacial modules. They will have a greater understanding about the capabilities of a bifacial solar cells and the added advantages.
