- The installation, inspection and maintenance of solar infrastructure can be a time-consuming and hazardous process. With the demand for solar panels rising, solar installation companies need to allow robotics to step into laborious and dangerous tasks associated with installation and have humans focus on operational oversight and planning.
- This poster will share how robotics can support solar technicians with time-intensive day-to-day tasks, regardless of if their job takes them to a plant or a residential community. For example, a solar technician could program a drone to fly over a solar power plant, identify thermal hotspots, and automatically activate ground robots to walk under the hotspot to identify the exact problem. Not only does this ensure that the human worker is out of harm's way, but by sending a drone to fly over the entire site, it allows workers to create efficiencies within a project and help with oversight. In this process, they can speed up their site assessments, better manage projects, and generate a digital twin of the site for accurate documentation and quick sharing with designers in the office.
- Additionally, DroneDeploy will share some customer insights from leading solar panel provider Sunrun and how the company utilizes DroneDeploy’s mapping software to analyze customers' roofs from the ground. This eliminates nearly 45 minutes per job, saving valuable worker time and lowering overall costs. This technology also allows Sunrun to generate an accurate 3D model of the roof measurements to guide design and the roof installation, thus keeping workers on the ground and increasing safety.
- The target audience would be solar infrastructure technicians and innovation leads looking to maximize their technology investments while lowering costs and increasing efficiency and safety. DroneDeploy’s industry expertise allows the audience to understand how drone technology can impact their business and allows them to see a feasibility example with the Sunrun customer story.
