Jamil AL-Nouman received a bachelor's in electrical engineering in 1995, a master degree of education tech. in 2002 , a master degree in Industrial Engineering in 2003, a master degree in Electrical engineering (May,2012) and a PhD in electrical engineering in Dec. 2012, all from NMSU. He joined NMSU- as an assistant professor in 2014, and was promoted to associate professor in 2017 and for full professor with tenured in 2020. Al-nouman has served as engineering program director since 2015
AL-Nouman’ s research activities are focused in the areas of renewable energy Currently, his work in forecasting PV power generation . In 2019 he was awarded Donald C. Roush Award for Teaching Excellence.
