Electric vehicle battery packs get replaced with about 75-80% state of health, which makes them ideal candidates for re-purposing into stationary storage applications. EV packs are not however designed with "drag and drop" architectures that can simply be moved over to stationary applications. Today used EV packs are filling warehouses all over the world. Nuvation has been working with several companies to deliver economically viable second life solutions, several of which are currently field deployed and in operation. We will share some of these project examples, and educate the poster viewer regarding how the transfer of EV packs into stationary is being done from the perspective of engineering and of economic viability. The target audience includes EV companies, stationary energy storage system integrators, and large scale energy storage adoption and procurement professionals.
