Jim Piotrowski is the Director of Renewable Generation for Arizona Public Service Company (APS). Based in Phoenix, APS is Arizona’s largest electric company and serves nearly 1.3 million customers across the state. Jim and his team are leading the effort to meet APS’s commitment to be 100% clean by 2050.
Through his leadership, APS has built the largest utility owned solar fleet in Arizona, investing more than a billion dollars in solar and battery energy projects during the last twelve years. The projects produced ~2,300 solar installations resulting in more than 400 megawatts of solar power and 141MW of energy storage. In addition, the team manages Micro Grids up to 25MW each. His team will be responsible for installing and maintaining gigawatts of utility scale energy storage and solar projects over the next 20 years.
During Jim’s 40-year career at APS, he has held several critical leadership positions providing an opportunity to utilize his broad utility experience which includes energy delivery, fossil generation and facilities. He has proven success developing organizations and individuals, and is adept at optimizing resources, solving key organizational problems, and promoting innovative solutions in complex environments. Jim’s continued leadership is critical in propelling APS forward as an innovative forerunner in the renewable industry.
Jim is very involved in the community and actively serves on community boards including St. Joseph the Worker and ASU’s Master’s in Solar Energy Engineering and Commercialization.
