Power Generation Structural Lead
HDR
Steve Gartner is a Sr. structural engineer with experience in power generation and industrial facilities. His primary responsibilities include the design of the superstructure and substructures of buildings and nonbuilding structures and leading the structural teams on these projects. His experience includes designing for dynamic loads such as high seismic, vortex shedding, and vibratory loads, as well as linear (elastic) 3D modeling, finite (plate) element modeling, and modal analysis. Steve has lead root cause analysis of wind turbine foundation failures and solar tracker and solar fixed tilt structural failures. In addition, Steve has been involved with a number of innovative ways to efficiently design solar structures that take into account the unique aspects of solar PV systems. Due to this work Steve was part of the team that won the Feasibility Award in the 2018 ASCE Innovation Contest for solar pile optimization. In addition Steve is the current Chair of the ASCE/SEI Solar PV Structures Committee.
