Head of Energy Storage Systems
Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy
Dr Kotub Uddin holds a PhD in Theoretical Physics and more than 10 years of professional experience in the clean energy sector, with a particular focus on energy storage. Since completing his PhD in 2009, he has amassed deep insight and expertise in clean energy and storage from various industries including Automotive Engineering, Academia, Consultancy, Energy Trading (intelligent VPP) and EPC’s. Dr Uddin has co-authored an order of 30 scientific papers on the application of energy storage (in the electricity grid and mobility), electrochemical fundamentals of energy storage systems, mathematical modelling of lithium-ion batteries and control theory (in particular, for energy storage applications) and energy storage policy. Within his portfolio at Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy [SWRE] – the largest Solar EPC on the globe with > 11.26 GW of installations and 6.6 GW under O&M – he is responsible for Battery Energy Storage Solutions (BESS). Beyond his expertise in energy storage technology, Dr Uddin also manages the commercial and supply chain aspects of energy storage for SWRE; he is also involved in renewables + energy storage policy work.
