Associate Director for Scientific Staffing

Dr. La’Nissa A. Brown-Baker serves as the Associate Director for Scientific Staffing at the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA or the Agency), Office of the Commissioner, Office of Operations. In this role, she works closely with her staff to develop innovative outreach ideas, recruitment strategies, professional development, and retention efforts for all science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) professionals at FDA. Also, she provides oversight for the Agency’s Pathways Programs which is aimed at recruiting students and recent graduates to FDA. Dr. Brown-Baker received her Bachelor of Science (B.S.), majoring in Biology with a Chemistry minor from Alabama State University; and earned her Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Biomedical Sciences in the Department of Pharmacology specializing in Toxicology at Meharry Medical College. She is also a certified Toxicologist as a Diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology (DABT certification). Dr. Brown-Baker has over twenty-five years of biomedical science experience, ten years of which includes review of FDA-regulated products as a Pharmacologist (Pharmacology/Toxicology Reviewer).
