Sucrose Acetate Isobutyrate (SAIB) use as an extended release injectable depot former was recently approved by the FDA. Using as few as three ingredients, SAIB presents a simple alternative to other formulation techniques utilized to manufacture extended release injectable depots. This presentation will focus on the chemistry and handling of SAIB and how to create formulations using this novel excipient.
