In the era of personalized medicine, drug discovery and development have undergone profound changes and have significant opportunities and challenges in how to best deliver novel therapies to patients. Translational strategies utilizing novel tools and technologies such as, genomic approaches, biomarkers, patient selection strategies, and imaging and computational methods to model systems and analyze data, have all fundamentally changed the way drugs are discovered and developed today. In this presentation, we will highlight the opportunities and challenges the industry faces, touch upon some translational lessons learned in oncology drug development and focus on the opportunity to leverage these lessons in the emerging and exciting area of biologics targeting immuno-neurology.
