Dan Bow is a Senior Principal Research Scientist within the Drug Metabolism, Pharmacokinetic and Bioanalysis (DMPK-BA) department at AbbVie. Currently he is responsible for leading DMPK-BA project strategy for multiple therapeutic areas and previously he led in vitro ADME and physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) groups. He received his PhD from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland where his research focused on renal transport. He continued drug transport research with a visiting fellow position at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences in RTP, NC. Prior to joining AbbVie, he held a post doctoral position at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where his research interests were on drug transporter localization and canalicular development in the hepatocyte sandwich-culture model. Dan is actively involved in programming content for the American Society of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS). He was the chair (2017-18) of the AAPS Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacodynamics, and Drug Metabolism (PPDM) section and a track chair for the 2018 PharmSci360 meeting. He is a member of the International Transporter Consortium (ITC) committee and a member of several International Consoritum for Innovation and Quality (IQ) working groups. Dan is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the College of Pharmacy at the University of Illinois-Chicago.
