Dr Zheng is an Associate Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (ACPHS), where he has been teaching and coordinating pharmaceutics, regulatory sciences, and related curriculum since 2004. He is also an adjunct faculty at Northeastern University Center for Drug Discovery. His group has been interested about the design and evaluation of Complex Drug Products, such as botanicals, therapeutic peptides and proteins from the nature. Interdisciplinary methodologies and translational strategies are used to elucidate mechanisms of actions, evaluate pharmaceutical quality, and access therapeutic benefits and risks. These efforts can empower patient-centered product design, enhance drug development efficiency, and enable regulatory decisions. Our recent research projects focus on evaluating risks and benefits of cannabis products and investigating the endocannabinoid systems (ECS) across the blood brain barrier (BBB). Dr Zheng has been an active member and leader of American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS), American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) and other scientific organizations and professional communities. He obtained Bachelor of Pharmacy from Shanghai Medical University School of Pharmacy, MS of Chemistry from University at Albany, and PhD of Pharmaceutical Science from University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy.
