Dr. Hanu Ramachandruni is the Senior Director of Pharmaceutical Development at Medicines for Malaria Venture (MMV), a not-for-profit organization based in Geneva, Switzerland whose mission is to reduce the burden of malaria by discovering, developing and facilitating the delivery of new, effective and affordable antimalarial drugs. Dr. Hanu Ramachandruni is responsible for all CMC related activities at MMV and provides scientific input into CMC strategies for antimalarial drug development. He works closely with various organizations and pharma partners to develop new chemical entities and formulations for the treatment and prevention of malaria. As children constitute the majority of malaria patients, Hanu’s emphasis is on development of acceptable paediatric formulations and evaluating technologies that enable cost effective treatments.
Prior to joining MMV in 2015, Hanu was based in the US where he worked for over 15 years at Schering-Plough, Forest Laboratories and Allergan, in various areas of drug development including formulation and process development, scale-up, technology transfer and validation. Hanu holds a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
