Simone Perazzolo, Ph.D., is a Modeling and Simulation bioengineer and scientist at the Department of Pharmaceutics, University of Washington, WA. He has expertise in the mechanistic modeling of biological systems and Quantitative Systems Pharmacology. He has experience in translational science in the context of nanoparticle and long-acting formulations. He has extensive knowledge about physiologically-based PK modeling of small and large molecules. He has developed the first Whole-body Lymphatic PBPK model. He is involved in several projects involving UW for long-acting HIV therapy, NIAID for HIV eradication, and Gates for modeling dissemination. He is the current distributor of the classic compartmental modeling software, SAAM2, and the founder of a model-based drug development consultancy firm, Nanomath LLC. During the COVID-19 outbreak, he worked on applying Systems Pharmacology in the quest of repurposing known antivirals to alleviate the pandemics.
