Dr. Klemke is Professor of Pathology and Cancer Biology at the University of California, San Diego’s, Medical School and Moores Cancer Center, where he serves as the Director of the Cancer Imaging Network and the Pathology Department’s Proteomics Center of Excellence. He has been a very active teacher, mentor, lecturer, and consultant in the biotech and pharmaceutical industries for more than three decades and is the founder of BioSystems Consulting and Cytonus Therapeutics located in San Diego California. His laboratory has received numerous federal and private awards to develop novel therapeutics aimed at treating metastatic cancers. Dr. Klemke's lab investigates the underlying mechanisms that drive cancer progression, cancer immunity, and has developed novel cell-based delivery systems to treat disseminated cancer cells. Dr. Klemke is internationally recognized for his work in cancer biology, immunology, stem cell therapeutics, proteomics, chemotaxis, and immune cell trafficking. His work has produced novel cell-based therapeutics directed at cancer and the immune system and has unlocked newfound insights and concepts that explain how malignant tumors develop, induce a blood supply, and avoid immune recognition.
