Lara Kallander, PhD, MAPP, is a scientist, speaker, and a professional coach at Thriving Through Adversity Coaching. She is passionate about helping people improve their quality of life. After getting a Ph.D. in chemistry from Stanford University, she devoted much of her career to the discovery of lifesaving medicines at GlaxoSmithKline, with 15 publications and 23 patent applications. She enjoyed moving up the career ladder there, from individual contributor to manager and then director. After 18 years in pharmaceuticals, the desire to address well-being in a more immediate way led her to a master’s degree in positive psychology at the University of Pennsylvania. Her experience and education paved the way to establish a business called Thriving Through Adversity Coaching. Through her business as a well-being coach, she supports women in science clarify their own definition of success and them make plans to achieve it. She is also an adjunct instructor at Simmons University, to support women in science being their personal best.
