Senior Application and Product Specialist
Capitainer AB
Swansea, Massachusetts
Dr. Chace is currently a senior application and product specialist for Capitainer, which specializes in quantitative dried blood sampling. He is an expert in mass spectrometry and the analysis of the dried blood spot (DBS). He has utilized these skills in the clinical laboratory primarily in metabolism (metabolomics). The dried blood spot is one of the pioneering techniques in micro sampling. Having developed a comprehensive newborn screening method that might be considered one model for metabolomic studies (Tandem Mass Spectrometry of Amino Acids and Acylcarnitines), he is going beyond public health by utilizing metabolic information obtained in this analysis in areas of human nutrition in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). He has worked to develop a laboratory-based test and information system that can provide a feedback mechanism to guide the neonatology staff to deliver nutrition that is very precise for each infant.
He has published 100 peer reviewed articles and has presented at numerous conferences that focus on areas in Neonatology, Clinical Chemistry, Newborn Screening, Mass Spectrometry and Forensic Science. He has developed a large number of educational materials around mass spectrometry, clinical chemistry, and science.
