PhD Student
University of Michigan
Jill Kinzer, MS, is a senior PhD student in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Michigan studying under Dr. Anna Schwendeman. Her thesis research involves determining physicochemical and structural differences in biosimilar and innovator monoclonal antibody pairs. To do so, Jill has performed multiple bioassays as well as analytical methods including LC-fluorescence and LC-MS/MS. These methods have allowed her to identify differences in binding affinities, glycosylation patterns, and post translational modifications (i.e. shuffled disulfide bonds) across biosimilar and innovator pairs as well as between protein drugs indicated for the same disease states. When not completing wet lab research, Jill also participates in industry partner meetings and workshops offered through the Center of Research on Complex Generics. She has drafted two unpublished pieces about hindrances to the complex generic development and approval timeline. Additionally, Jill is the "editor-in-chief" of her lab, manages her T32 fellowship program in Cellular Biotechnology and acts as the professional development chair for her AAPS student chapter at the University of Michigan. Upon graduation, Jill seeks to find a job within life sciences consulting and/or commercial pharma, with the intention of eventually transitioning into venture capital. Outside of work, Jill loves training for endurance events including marathons and IronMans.
