Fotis Iliopoulos is a postdoctoral research fellow at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital. His expertise and interests include the use of biophysical methods to probe the mechanisms of percutaneous absorption, with a particular focus on Raman microscopy. He is currently working on an FDA grant award entitled "Pharmacokinetic Tomography for the Measurement of Topical Drug Product Bioequivalence". His research utilizes Stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) coupled with Deep Learning models to develop an automated analysis pipeline for the extraction of cutaneous pharmacokinetic parameters and evaluation of topical bioequivalence. Dr Iliopoulos has completed his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics as a member of the Skin Research Group at UCL School of Pharmacy, UK. His Ph.D. was co-funded by the UK Research and Innovation – The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (UKRI – EPSRC) and GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). During his time at UCL, he also undertook industrial placements at RiverD International B.V., The Netherlands (2020) and GlaxoSmithKline, UK (2019). His Ph.D. research focused on the effects of penetration modulating agents, and vehicle components on percutaneous absorption of drugs.
