Associate Principal Scientist
Merck & Co., Inc.
Dr. Iriny Ekladious is an Associate Principal Scientist in Sterile and Specialty Products within the Pharmaceutical Sciences organization at Merck. In her current role, she supports the clinical formulation development of sterile drug products across small molecules and biologics, and spanning multiple dosage forms, including solutions, suspensions, and lyophilized injectable and infusion products.
Iriny joined Merck in 2018 as a member of the Discovery Pharmaceutical Sciences group, in which she facilitated the translation of robust preclinical drug candidates from discovery to development by assessing their physicochemical attributes and liabilities. During her time in discovery, Iriny evaluated the developability of various modalities including small molecules, peptides, and biologics. She additionally supported the development of in vitro cell-free screening tools for the identification of membrane-permeable peptides.
Prior to joining Merck, Iriny completed her graduate training in Biomedical Engineering at Boston University, under the mentorship of Professor Mark Grinstaff. She was an NSF Graduate Research Fellow and completed her degree with joint training in Biomolecular Pharmacology from the Boston University School of Medicine. Iriny’s research focused on the rational design and development of novel polymeric nanoparticles for the controlled delivery of chemotherapeutics. Iriny obtained her BS in Biological Engineering from Cornell University.
