Junghwa Park, Pharm.D., graduated with Magna Cum Lauda and Viatris Pharmaceutical Excellence in Pharmacy Award in May 2022. She is a Ph.D. student in Pharmaceutics, the Department of Pharmacological and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Houston College of Pharmacy. Under the supervision of Dr. Diana S-L. Chow, she is researching pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and pharmacogenomics in drug development for optimizing clinical therapy. Her tentative dissertation topic is Therapeutic Implications of Riluzole in Patients with Acute Spinal Cord Injury.
Dr. Park was also an ORISE research fellow at the FDA in May-September, 2022, collaborating with Dr. Patricia Slattum, a Professor Emeritus in the College of Pharmacy at Virginia Commonwealth University and Dr. S. W. Johnny Lau, a Senior Clinical Pharmacologist at the CDER, FDA . During this fellowship, she conducted a scoping review to comprehensively characterize pharmacodynamic changes in older adults and how the changes affect geriatric health outcomes in a meaningful, effective, and significant way.
