The Cargocyte platform is a new precision drug delivery technology with the potential to deliver a wide range of therapeutics including small molecule drugs, gene editing modalities, oncolytic viruses, anti-sense oligonucleotides, and immunomodulatory cytokines. Cargocytes are constructed from cell-based components, are naturally biocompatible, immune evasive, and have an excellent biodistribution pattern following intravenous administration. Artificial intelligence, deep learning, and bioinformatics is implemented to identify specific endothelial zip code molecules, chemoattractant signaling factors, and tissue specific targets that direct Cargocyte homing to disease foci using a GPS-like system. Cargocytes are also intelligently designed to overcome restrictive vascular barriers and penetrate hard-to-treat tissues where limited therapeutic success has been observed such as fibrotic diseases and metastatic cancer. Preclinical animal studies demonstrate the utility of Cargocytes to specifically target and ameliorate a range of diseases including inflammatory conditions, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, and cancer. Cargocytes have an excellent safety profile and are readily manufactured at clinical scale. In summary, the Cargocyte platform is a next generation drug delivery system that is amenable to synthetic biology approaches, highly versatile, and can be easy customized to produce best-in-class therapeutics for a range of clinical indications.
