Mike Gizzi is a Principal in the Physician Workforce Practice of SullivanCotter. With over 12 years of consulting experience, Mike helps hospitals, health systems and physician groups transform their operations from a volume-focused business model to a value-based care environment. He also advises organizations on designing and implementing population health strategies.
His experience includes:
• Leading the transformation of primary care physician practices by helping initiate new infrastructure, tools and engagement strategies to create improved physician accountability for preventive care, wellness and cost containment.
• Developing service line strategies to support effective hospital and physician collaboration focused on improving quality, reducing cost and enhancing patient experience.
• Facilitating integrated planning sessions and financial due diligence to develop strategic, operational and technology solutions to help organizations succeed in the changing competitive environment.
• Developing population health strategies to improve patient care and satisfaction through diversity of access, care coordination, cost control and improved outcomes.
• Designing physician reward programs that align behaviors with organizational strategies and the industry’s move to value-based reimbursements.
Mike started his consulting career with a Big Four firm and worked on the firm’s largest national engagements. Prior to joining SullivanCotter, he was the director of population health at a management services organization, leading physician transition from fee-for-service to high-value care. He also helped to start a hospital-focused health care practice at a regional management consulting firm.
Mike is a frequent speaker on the topic of implementing value-based strategies in health care. And, as a professional basketball player for over 12 years in Europe, he has founded a not-for-profit, boys basketball program in Indiana and speaks to students and youth organizations about perseverance, teamwork training and the importance of being the best student-athlete possible.
Mike has a Bachelor of Science in finance from LaSalle University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
