On one hand, the long-term overall dental implant survival rate is high and dental implant treatment remains one of the most valuable options to replace missing teeth. On the other hand, various complications are seen related to implant treatment.
This lecture will give an excellent introduction to and overview of complications observed in current implant dentistry. Biological and prosthetic complications will be reviewed from both surgical and restorative perspectives, and their incidence will be presented. Risks and prevention for those complications will be discussed to reduce their incidence for day-by-day practice. Finally, strategic evaluation of the complications and their clinical management will be discussed based on the current available evidence in order to achieve long-term success of patient care with dental implants.
