Oral Health & Dental Management for the Pregnant Patient Part 1

This course will discuss the medical aspects and physiology of pregnancy as well as oral manifestations that may be encountered at this time in a woman’s life. The myths regarding dental treatment for the pregnant patient will be discussed. The effects of cigarette smoking, alcohol consumption, marijuana use, etc. will be presented. COVID-19 in pregnancy and while breastfeeding, as well as administering the COVID vaccine during pregnancy and lactation will be addressed. Also discussed, will be the growing numbers of pregnant women who present with an eating disorder and the ramifications on the mom's wellbeing and that of fetus and newborn.
