Hakan Gem, DDS, PhD

Dr. Gem earned his B.S. in Human Biology and Society from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2014. He joined the University of Washington School of Dentistry and earned his DDS in 2018 and PhD in Oral Health Sciences in 2022. His field of research is in cancer cell biology and his doctoral dissertation examined mechanisms of resistance to targeted therapies currently in clinical trials for the treatment of oral, head, and neck cancers. He is currently an Oral Medicine resident at the UW School of Dentistry. When he's not in the lab or clinic, you can find Dr. Gem running around on a soccer field or skiing the slopes of Crystal Mountain.
